I remember it just like yesterday. The truth is, it was 15 years ago.
Little did I know how a wonderful love story was beginning. It all started on our first date and dare I be brutally honest and tell you where we went. We went to Jack 'n Box and Dairy Queen along with a college recruiting meeting. He was quite the romantic, in fact, to the absolute core still is. We discovered we were both invited to this meeting for our school athletics and decided to attend together. The official first day was already planned for the next night but we bumped it up. He wanted to do a nice dinner beforehand. In fact, he was embarrassed that I chose what I did. The practical and frugal side of me said 'no' to fancy anything. From day one, I've been simple. I believe he would still agree. I'm not a gift girl. I'm not a flower girl. I'm a quality time girl. I don't care what we're doing (although I prefer to be warm) or where we're at. I care that we are together. After 15 years, I still get the same goosebumps. I still get lost in his eyes. I still feel so grateful that God chose our paths to be one. I still am in awe, that I get to be his Mrs. Has the 15 years been beautiful? Beautifully written because my God who has already written my life's story doesn't leave a detail to chance. Beautiful ups. Beautiful downs (hard to see in the moment) but the growth as an individual, and as a couple, is beautiful. When God writes your love story, you get lost in your own pages.
